Warping Time and Space | Poetry

How still is the lone figure arrayed in black,
beneath the endless expanse of high heavens,
by the uneasy waves slapping the forlorn shore
where swirling mists cloud his searching eye
under the brooding sigh of the impending sky.

Is it the warmth of day or the dread of night?
Beyond the looming clouds there is bright blue light;
white winged gulls circle above the ebbing tide;
eerily, the thick darkness melds into brilliant light,
blending truth and doubt in lines painted wide.

I too seek answers from such emptiness in sight
near the sea where a great dome encloses all sides -
and there admire the foreboding waves and frothy foam
as they break into bubbles on the pale sandy shore -
and spatial and temporal symmetry exist no more.

The dark waters here, disrupt visions of pure white,
sucking me into the vortex of all-encompassing skies;
in a relentless quest to elude the insignificance of life,
I choose to remain in this boundless scape for a while -
unsure if this terrifying beauty is nothing but a guile.
